I was in Germany for three, great months, which I spent mostly in the forest. I went there to do what I like the most - working with birds (here Blue Tits). I also started to like Germany and German food, I saw part of Bavaria and I strengthened my belief, that I don't like to hike in the mountains (although the views are beautiful). Additionally, I didn't practice my German almost at all, because we were all talking in English.

Praca w lesie jest bardzo relaksująca. Codziennie obcujesz z przyrodą, oddychasz świeżym powietrzem i nabierasz kondycji.

I was living in small town Starnberg on the shore of the huge lake named after the town. If the clouds were kind, you could have seen an amazing view of the Alps. The neighbourhood was filled with turistic trails through forests and meadows, so I walked quite a lot during my stay there. I really recommend this area for a holidays, because it's very relaxing and pretty. I enjoy walking on the flat areas, but hiking up the hill is very exhausting for me - I usually leave my lungs somewhere on the way. I was full of dislike, when my team organised a hiking trip in the Alps, but I took part in it. It was actually my first proper hike and I don't regret it. The views were amazing and I'm proud of myself, that I managed even though my heavy backpack, the heat and climbing chains in the rocks.
One of the Alpine attractions was to see a rock ptarmigan. Since our whole group was composed of only ornithologists, we were standing there for more than 10 minutes and watching mister ptarmigan, who didn't really care, that we were there.
German food is quite similar to Polish and maybe that's why I really liked it. The cuisine is full of meat (it's hard to be a vegeterian in Germany), different sauces, good, proper bread, delicious sausages (I really miss it here in Italy) and other goodies. For some people German food might be too heavy, but if you eat a lot of traditional Polish food, you will manage there too. I really liked currywurst, which I always wanted to try. Although I was sure the sausage has curry inside and it came out that it's a normal sausage with a lot of ketchup and a lot of curry on top. At least I can make it at home ;)
Working in the forest is very relaxing. Everyday you're communing with nature, breathing with freash air and getting fitter. I don't have to mention, that you're also losing weight. I also met different animals and had a lot of birds in my hands, which is always very nice for an ornithologist.
A forest can look really beautiful, especially in the mornings, when there is still morning mist and the sun is starting to shine through the branches. It's worth to get up early and take a walk in the nearest forets. This start of the day will relax you and give you positive energy for the whole day.
Zdjęcia jak zawsze boskie! :)
OdpowiedzUsuńDziękuję! :D
